The recognized professional qualifications are listed under the Legal Practitioners [Designated Legal Qualifications] Notice S.I. 444/92. These are:-
    

  • University of Zimbabwe’s LLB Hons, BL and LLB.  
  • Zambia LLB   
  • Lesotho LLB
  • Swaziland LLB
  • South Africa LLB, B luris or B. Proc Degree
  • United Kingdom LLB Degree from a University or other institutes of higher education.
    
Any degree, diploma or certificate awarded by a United kingdom institution of Higher education or professional  body which entitles the holder to practice as a barrister or solicitor in the United kingdom.

How to register as a legal Practitioner

One must:-
    
  • Have a recognized qualification  
  • Be normally resident in Zimbabwe  
  • Be 21 years of age or above  
  • Not be unrehabilitated insolvent or one who has assigned his estate for the benefit of creditors or one who has a standing arrangement with creditors.
  • Be a fit and proper person to be registered as a legal practitioner
